When You Draw a Perfect Circle by: Ella Lewis
The history project is almost complete, just one sketch of Abraham Lincoln and it would all be over. You pick the obvious choice of drawing a stick figure, and you begin with the head.
A squiggle here, a squiggle there, and done! He just needs a hat to complete the look. But wait! You suddenly realize that his head looks like a smashed watermelon.
As a way of saying it plain, your brain creates a personage of Lincoln himself. His pencil arms push off the page and he looks at you with an incomplete set of eyes.
“Fourscore and seven years ago, I was able to draw a perfect circle, and that is the truth!” he taunts.
So, with a clean sheet of paper, you begin again.
“No, no, no, no, no” he says as you continue making mistakes.
By now your hand burns with exhaustion, and a sharp headache is setting in. You close your eyes, taking in the deepest breath you had taken in all day. With a final stroke, a final loop, the two points of where you started and ended intertwine.
Your eyes open. There on the page sits a round, no bumps, no lumps, complete, absolutely perfect, circle! All you can do is have an internal celebration. With that, your favorite penny face man winks and disappears. You did it yo’!
AWESOME!
This is very relatable when i'm trying to draw! (this is also very funny)
ReplyDeleteI like the thing you did with the quote there hahah
ReplyDeleteI really like how informal it is and love your usage of similes and metaphors.
ReplyDeleteThis is probably what every kid deals with at least once in their life deals with and it's really relatable!
ReplyDeleteLoved it. It is very relatable and funny!
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you want to make a perfect circle, just make a detailed head, erase the details and BOOM!
Another method to get that sweet satisfaction of the perfect circle. :)
