Easily deciding who talks first in a group of two or more people

You’ve been there. I’ve been there. We’ve all (mostly) been there before.

Yes, that feeling where you feel like you’re life just flashed before your eyes, yet you survived the incident, the feeling of awkward silence. If you’re like me, and you are a complete expert on not using language normally and casually often, then I’m sorry for your loss. On the other hand, if you’re not like me and more like the average person, you are a normal speaker, congratulations. Now, there are normally three common forms that this monster takes as it strikes, from one shy person to the next flustered guy finding out about puberty for the first time.

1.This is the easiest one to handle. You walk up to your friend and just kinda talk about whatever(drama, homework, video games, medieval weaponry), you know, the usual, not much awkwardness to be except the odd silence or offensive remark. It’s all fun and games at the first type.

2. This is a common offender. You’re talking to Pam, and you’re already having a hard time listening to her, let alone keeping up with her “wild” story starring five different “Jim”s, “Stanley”s, and “Katherine”s. Then, out of nowhere, a new challenger appears. Everyone rushes to start the conversation again, saying, ”any-” or “uh-”, but not one second after are you and your peers all politely begging each other to go first in a sort of duel of politeness, using excuses like “Ladies first.” or “What? I didn’t say anything.”.

3. The final frontier, your dragon to slay, your Voldemort: being “forced” to talk to a stranger. You might be sitting next to someone at the dentist’s office, alone together on an elevator, or something worse like getting in a taxi alone(a very unfortunate tragedy). You don’t want to talk to the other person or people at all, but it would be even worse if you didn’t. When you finally, after some millenia, get called to the dentist’s operation room or get off that elevator, it’s the worst feeling knowing that you sat there in nervous silence for however long it was.

If this never ends up happening to you, it’s a great feeling knowing that you avoided the entire situation altogether. You feel as smooth as butter and you know that life just got a little less awkward and a lot more...

AWESOME!
